First Home Owner Grant in Tasmania
Tasmania's First Home Owner Grant is $20,000 for new homes in 2026–27, doubled from $10,000 under a law passed in June 2026. There's no property value cap.
Stamp duty for first home buyers
The stamp duty exemption for first home buyers of established homes up to $750,000 ended on 30 June 2026. Transfers after that date pay the general rate.
In Tasmania, the grant is now the main first home buyer benefit, and it's only for new homes.
